Founded in 2010, the Wisconsin Headwaters Invasives Partnership (WHIP) is a nonprofit cooperative of 16 partners who share resources to offer invasive species education and manage invasive species in Oneida, Vilas, and Lincoln Counties. Working across jurisdictional boundaries, we are a network of county, state, and federal government agencies, plus private citizens, schools, and more.
The Wisconsin Headwaters Invasives Partnership (WHIP) is dedicated to the conservation of the native species, habitats and landscapes of Lincoln, Oneida, and Vilas Counties in north-central Wisconsin. WHIP recognizes the threat of invasive species and will work cooperatively to provide education, monitoring and invasive species control.
WHIP operates under a Steering Committee of representatives from our partners, and employs a Coordinator to secure grant funding and implement project deliverables. Our fiscal agent is the Lumberjack RC&D Council, a nonprofit group working to conserve natural resources in northeastern Wisconsin.
Since 2010, WHIP has been fiscally sponsored by Lumberjack RC&D Council, Inc., a multi-county, nonprofit based in Rhinelander, WIsconsin. This group is comprised of elected members serving on county Land Conservation Committees, and meets quarterly.
For more than 50 years, the Lumberjack group has worked to enhance area natural resources, promote a higher standard of living and improve the quality of life for area citizens by fostering partnerships between public and private sectors and strategically investing in area natural resources.
WHIP values our excellent relationship with the Lumberjack group. We appreciate their confidence in our work, and we regularly share grant proposals, conservation projects, and planning for the future. Lumberjack also provides WHIP with valuable organizational funding to support grant seeking, prioritizing, and all meetings. Thank you t
